Vartanian named South Kitsap boys soccer coach

South Kitsap athletic director Ed Santos announced Wednesday that Cory Vartanian will succeed Julie Cain as the school’s boys soccer coach. Vartanian played football and soccer at Horlick High School in Racine, Wis. He also was a kicker at North Dakota State University. Vartanian came to South in 2010 as an assistant football coach and mentored Aaron La Deaux, who now is a kicker at Minot State in North Dakota. He also served as an assistant to Cain last season.
